Abstract

The study analyzed the style of language used by the main characters in the film "Spellbound" directed by Vicky Jenson, as well as the factors that influenced the choice of such a style of language . Language is an essential communication tool that reflects the personality and spirit of the writer or speaker, and the use of language styles in films can provide insight into social interactions and emotions.
This study used descriptive qualitative design to analyze the data, focusing on the dialogue of the characters in the movie "Spellbound" . The main Data were obtained from transcripts of dialogues and English subtitles of films /.Data collection techniques in this study using documentation, including watching movies and reading scripts, were used to identify and classify language styles .
From a total of 165 data analyzed, four types of language styles were found: formal (40 data), consultative (45 data), casual (65 data), and intimate (15 data) . Casual style is the most dominant language style used in film dialogues .The four main factors that used by by characters are participants (65 data), situations (60 data), topics (25 data), and functions (15 data) . Participant factors are the most commonly found, suggesting that the relationship between speaker and listener greatly influences overall stylistic choices, the study showed that "Spellbound" films feature a diverse range of language styles influenced by a variety of sociolinguistic factors, providing a deeper understanding of how language is used in cinematic contexts to convey emotion and social interaction.
